AIESEC City in Munich
It was about this time last year that 7 of us from City took an easyJet flight and made our way to Munich. Its no coincendence with the date, we were there for the infamous Oktober Fest, the world's largest beer drinking festival. ![]() On the acutal Fest days we got seats in huge tents with German folk music blazing in the air. The locals put on their finest Lederhosen and traditional outfits and all in all I can say I had a great time. Special thanks to Marion (City VP 05/06) for making sure City could take along and experience the true impact of AIESEC on a global scale. Thomas Moller September 18, 2006 | Permalink
Election Day on 17 March 2006
It was a hell of a night! I must admit that I was quite nervous during my way to the meeting. My anxiety increased when I entered the room and realised that everyone was dressed really smartly and I had my yellow AIESEC T-shirt. But the atmosphere was so nice and frindly that I quickly calmed down. ![]() The whole process went very smoothly. There were separate elections for every role. We had 2 candidates for both LCP and VP PD roles and 3 candidates for both VP OGX and VP ICX. Firstly, all candidates for the particular roles had to go outside the doors and then Laura invited them separately so that they could give their speeches. Every single one was magnificent. After the voting all candidates for each role had to stand in line and the previous EB stood behind them on chairs with glasses of water. After Laura read the results water was poured on the person that won! It was so much fun!!! When the whole new EB was finally elected we all went to Shakespeare’s for dinner and had really wonderful time. Anna Zabrodzka September 16, 2006 | Permalink
Develop Yourself!
AIESEC is the international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential. To that end, AIESEC believes in equipping its members with practical skills and it is the reason I decided to give AIESEC a go in my first year in university. I wasn't dissapointed. ![]() Another skill session which I have benefited from was the one on presentation skills. Our Local Community President (LCP), Thomas gave a brilliant talk on the do's and don'ts of giving a presentation. A random topic was then given and at the end of a brief 5-minute preparation, we were expected to speak on that subject. It was nerve-wreaking! It was great practice though. When I ran for the position of Vice President of Business and Development (VPBD), I called upon the guidance Thomas had given and gave a speech that won me the role. Truly, AIESEC is about you; a chance to develop practical skills. In the coming term, the new Executive Board (EB) has planned several skill sessions which will greatly benefit you. Stay tuned for more updates! Zach Lim |
